Endy vs. Polysleep: Who Makes the Best Mattress in a Box?

Bed with green blanket and white pillows in a white room with a window backdrop.

Sleeping on that worn out old mattress is making your back hurt. Tossing and turning are taking their toll. A new mattress is in your budget, and you’ve heard good things about the mattress in a box concept, even narrowing down your choices to just a few. But the thought of mattress shopping is keeping you up at night. Endy vs. Polysleep vs. someone else — what’s the difference?

There are way too many choices, and the reviews and commercials all sound too good to be true. How do you choose a mattress without laying on it first? We are here to cut through the hype.

We have studied mattresses inside and out, researching materials and manufacturers, and interviewing hundreds of our own customers about what works, so we know what to look for. We’re here to give you some clarity with an in-depth comparison of the Endy vs. Polysleep mattress (and our own Hush mattress), which will help in your buying decision.

Polysleep vs Endy Company Overview

Let's examine these two mattress brands to find out what makes them unique. (We’ll also talk about why you may want to consider our Hush mattress, too.)

Meet Endy

The Endy Canadian-made mattress is locally sourced and manufactured. The company specializes in creating a high quality mattress that is affordable. The Endy mattress is the most popular bed-in-the-box style mattress brand in Canada, regularly receiving top ratings from its customers.

Endy makes two styles of mattress, the Endy and the Endy Hybrid. The Endy is an all-foam mattress and it’s the one that got the company started. The Endy Hybrid builds off of that foam foundation by adding durable pocket coils for improved support.

Meet Polysleep

The Polysleep mattress is also a Canadian product, designed and constructed in Montreal. The company stresses equality and innovation and focuses on reducing its carbon footprint. For every ten mattresses sold, one is donated to charity. Returns are often donated as well.

Their prices are a bit higher than Endy, but still quite affordable. Besides the Polysleep mattress, they also make the Origin and the Zephyr. The Zephyr is a higher-end mattress with five foam layers and six foam varieties, including GelFlex Plus, a premium memory foam.

Meet Hush

We'd be remiss if we didn't discuss our Hush mattress and how it compares to the Endy and Polysleep mattress brands.

We are also a Canadian company specializing in bed-in-a-box mattresses — our mattresses are designed, manufactured, and shipped from three factories across Canada. We started making weighted blankets but then set out to make the best mattress on earth. And we think we’ve pulled it off!

We have two mattresses to choose from, both hybrid mattresses. Hybrid means we use both high-quality foam and more traditional metal springs for optimal support and comfort. Unlike any other mattress on the market, you'll achieve the best sleep posture and a cooling sensation.

Support and Firmness

Endy Support and Firmness

The Endy mattress is made of three pressure-relieving foam layers. A 5-inch high-density polyfoam support base layer is topped with 3 inches of medium-density polyfoam, providing maximum support with a soft feel. On top is a 2-inch open-cell polyfoam layer that is soft and breathable.

Overall, the Endy is a medium firm mattress. The top layer offers a soft surface to sleep on with some give, but you are prevented from sinking too far due to the firmer second and third foam layers.

Most foam mattresses lack support along the bed's edges, but Endy mattresses tend to hold up better in that area. There is no distinct edge built in, so what you feel in the middle of the bed is what you'll feel on the outer edges, without too much drooping. It comes with a removable, machine-washable polyester cover.

Polysleep Support and Firmness

The Polysleep mattress is made of three layers plus an extra outer support layer. The firmest layer is made of high-density foam that acts as reinforcement and support for the rest of the mattress. The second transition layer provides full body support.

The top layer is an antimicrobial foam that allows air to circulate while keeping its firmness level. The support frame around all sides and nestled under the top layer helps the mattress keep its structure, and allows the edges to keep their shape.

The Polysleep mattress also offers medium firmness, rating about a 6.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale. Its shape bounces back quickly.

Hush Support and Firmness

Hush offers a slightly firmer feel than the Polysleep, with more even support from durable, high-quality innerspring coils. Those springs are arranged to provide optimal support, with heavier gauge wire in the middle of the mattress where weight is concentrated.

Pressure Relief

Endy Pressure Relief

Endy mattresses are best suited for sleepers under 250 pounds. You'll likely sink too far into the foam if you weigh more than that. Those between 130 and 250 pounds will sink just enough to be comfortable but still have spinal support. The Endy Hybrid will provide a bit more support if you are a little heavier.

Polysleep Pressure Relief

Polysleep’s proprietary memory foam formulation relieves pressure points while conforming to the shape of your body. For those under 230 pounds, the mattress tends to cradle the sleeper, providing pressure relief for those who sleep on their back, side, or stomach.

Hush Pressure Relief

Hush's hybrid design is ideal for those who like to alternate sleeping positions, as many people do. A pure foam mattress tends to be uncomfortable for stomach sleepers, for example, but Hush’s spring system solves the sinking problem and creates a cushiony feeling that relieves pressure, especially for side sleepers.

Motion Isolation / Steadiness

Endy Steadiness

Endy mattresses have great motion isolation. Because of the all-foam design, the Endy allows you to get a good night's sleep even if your partner is tossing and turning. At the same time, the Endy Mattress allows you to change positions comfortably.

Polysleep Steadiness

The Polysleep mattress has minimal motion transfer due to the cradling effect of the foam. If your partner changes sleeping position, the mattress will absorb the motion better, preventing sleep disturbances.

The reinforced perimeter on the Polysleep provides good edge support whether you sleep near the center or on the edge. This edge support provides a bonus of durability, as sitting on the edge of your bed has been known to cause sagging in other mattresses.

Hush Steadiness

Traditionally, mattress springs are interwoven, so motion in one area ripples across the entire mattress. Hush solved this problem by separating each coil into its own individual pocket or sheath. When one coil is pressed, the energy doesn’t carry over to the others, reducing motion transfer. This composition creates a very steady sleep experience.

Cooling

Endy for Warm Sleepers

Most foam mattresses tend to restrict airflow, causing warm or hot sleepers to feel uncomfortable. Endy mattresses use an open-cell polyfoam designed to move heat away from the body and create a more breathable environment.

However, if you tend to sleep very hot, you might want to upgrade to the Endy Hybrid. Its pocket coils increase airflow for a refreshing sleep experience.

Polysleep for Warm Sleepers

Polysleep's top layer is a proprietary hybrid foam that allows air circulation. As you lay on the mattress and your body heat rises, this transition layer dissipates heat allowing most to sleep cool. The Polysleep mattress cover also has mesh side panels, which allow air circulation.

Hush for Warm Sleepers

Cooling is where the Hush Iced mattresses shine. Every layer is designed for comfort. The cover is made with phase-change material, which feels cool to the touch. It is designed to lower body temperature and keep sleepers cool.

The pillowy top is made of high-quality memory foam with built-in cooling features: a perforated top layer lets air escape, while a layer of graphite transfers heat away from your body. The top layer of memory foam is filled with tiny bubbles that soak up heat.

The bottom layer has a series of highly durable coils, which create lots of air circulation, surrounded by three layers of foam, which add space for air to move.

All of this sounds fancy and high-tech, but all you need to know is that our mattress composition is the best it gets if you are a hot sleeper.

Durability

A boy jumping happily on a white bed.

Most mattresses degrade over time with constant use. The foam will eventually become softer. Any mattress inevitably suffers wear and tear, no matter how well you treat it. A typical mattress lasts around ten years.

Endy Durability

An Endy mattress is guaranteed for ten years if you provide a proper foundation and care. But they are so confident in their product that they offer a 15-year limited warranty, which covers a one-time repair or replacement due to flaws in materials or craftsmanship, or sagging or indentation more than one inch deep.

Lengthen the life of your mattress by protecting it with an enclosed Endy mattress cover. The cover is made of polyester and spandex for ease of removal. They also sell a "proper" foundation to help the mattress last for at least ten years.

Polysleep Durability

A liquid repellent cover is included to protect the mattress from accidental spills, prevent moisture getting onto the mattress, and keep dirt from marring the surface.

Polysleep has a limited 10-year warranty which covers defects in manufacturing.

The extra foam layer around the edges creates an additional support system that helps the mattress keep its shape.

Hush Durability

Hush mattresses will last you a good ten years or more and are backed by a 10-year warranty. We use the highest quality materials and put each mattress together by hand. Because we use coils in our construction, the mattress is more durable than pure foam models.

Buying Experience

What to Expect When You Buy an Endy Mattress

Within 1-2 business days after placing your order, your Endy mattress is out the door with a tracking number and delivery date telling you exactly when to expect it at your location.

The Endy mattress is compressed in a box at the factory, which allows it to be shipped with a smaller footprint than conventional mattresses. Once your mattress arrives on your doorstep and you take it out of the box, you can sleep on it immediately.

If you notice any odors due to off-gassing or just new materials, you can let it air out, and it should be gone within 24 hours.

Endy has a GREENGUARD Gold certification, meaning there is less off-gassing than typical all-foam mattresses. Endy's volatile organic chemical (VOC) emissions are much lower than others (less than 0.5 parts per million).

They are also CertiPUR-US certified, which reassures the consumer that they are following all possible health and safety guidelines concerning materials and the manufacturing process. Polysleep mattresses are free from formaldehyde, phthalates, flame retardants, and heavy metals; they are deemed safe for all sleepers, including those with sensitivities.

After your mattress is unboxed, it will expand to full size within seconds, but it takes about a week to reach full firmness. That doesn't mean you have to wait to sleep on it — you can do that immediately if you'd like.

Add a solid wood bed support frame, mattress protector, organic cotton sheets, or a luxe pillow to your order for the complete bedroom experience.

What to Expect When You Buy a Polysleep Mattress

The Polysleep mattress is CertiPUR-US certified. It is lower in VOCs than typical foam mattresses and is made without ozone-depleting chemicals.

Once you place your order, your Polysleep mattress will be out of the factory and on its way to your doorstep within 1-2 business days.

Take the mattress out of the box when it arrives, roll it out, and remove the plastic. It will quickly expand into its original shape.

While Polysleep says that you can sleep on the mattress immediately, mattress experts recommend letting any foam mattress air out for a day or two.

What to Expect When You Buy a Hush Mattress

Like the other mattresses, Hush is CertiPUR-US certified, guaranteeing low VOCs, but Hush takes it a step further. With Hush, your mattress is not made until you order it. It will never be sitting in a plastic bag in a box in a warehouse.

You might think this would slow down the time it takes to get to your door, but you'd be wrong. From order to door takes only up to four days.

Once you receive your mattress, remove it from the box, peel off the outer plastic layer, and unroll it onto your foundation. Then remove the inner plastic protection layer and watch your bed expand to full size in less than an hour.

There should be no smell because no toxic chemicals are used in the manufacturing process — but if your nose is especially sensitive, let it air out for a day or so, and you’ll be good to go.

Warranty

Endy Guarantee

Endy offers a 100-night sleep trial. That's three full months of sleep in which to try it out. If you don't like it for any reason, you can return it for a full refund. Most returned mattresses are donated to charity.

Polysleep Guarantee

Polysleep also offers a 100-night trial, but with some stipulations. You must wait at least 45 days before asking for a refund, as all mattresses have a break-in period. After that, if you are still not satisfied, you can return it for a refund minus a $75 fee.

Hush Guarantee

Hush offers a 100-night trial and asks you to wait 30 days before returning it. This gives your body a chance to get used to the mattress before making a final decision. Mattresses are picked up free of charge and either donated or disposed of properly.
